I carefully design and construct each shoe one at a time. Each pair of Old Fashioned Way shoes are made entirely of genuine leather from the toes to the soles! Curious how a pair of shoes is made?
Growing up, I was surrounded with arts and crafts for as long as I can remember. My mom has the most amazing studio full of different mediums, tools and gadgets. I have yet to find a project I can’t complete with use of my mom’s studio. Seriously! With her amazing support, I never stopped imagining and designing in my head.
Drawing and painting has always been one of my favorite arts. Over the years I have expanded from sketching in journals to painting giant murals to customizing my car with plastidip, paint and vinyl wrapping. My daydreams would be filled with breaking apart an idea step by step and figuring out how to assemble things.
I started by taking cheap heels and creating crazy custom designs and after a while I dove into high quality designer heels and researched how to restore damage. I learned so much about shoe construction by working with a cobbler to repair extremely broken heels, and researching how I could fix smaller problems myself.
According to my mom, my love of all things glitter, sparkle, bling and over the top fashion began as soon as I could walk. I was always the best dressed toddler - choosing to wear thrifted flower girl dresses and gowns over anything else.
Naturally this love of glitter expanded into my crafts as well. I was actually banned from the glitter drawer for several years because I had a habit of using the most expensive glitter (and covering the whole house in it along with my project). But that didn’t stop me from creating art and daydreaming of all the things I wanted to make.
If you can’t tell, I have always tried to make things myself instead of buying them. My love of fashion and beauty lead me to designing and creating my own nails. I taught myself how to build and shape acrylic nails, and began using my imagination to create custom designs. I love trying new techniques and experimenting with a mix of 3D materials. I had so many people love my nails and ask me to do theirs that I decided I would! I started a small shop on Etsy. I couldn’t believe the support and love I received for my designs.
My nail shop is still active and I can create custom designs for your every whim!
As much as I love designing nails, shoes have always been my passion. I always wanted to start my own brand and bring my ideas to life.
One day I decided to stop dreaming and just do it.
With my mom’s help and support, I dove feet first into making shoes. She commissioned the first pair I ever made - a pair of black ankle boots. And the rest is history!
